Eyes are the most expressive part of the face, and one of the most vulnerable areas when it comes to aging. The tone of this delicate skin diminishes as we age, resulting in drooping of the upper lids and bags on the lower lids. To correct these concerns and achieve a more youthful appearance, more men are discovering the benefits of eyelid surgery in Los Angeles (blepharoplasty).
For men who take pride in looking energized and active, the tired look of aging eyelids can bring frustration. My goal for my Los Angeles eyelid surgery patients is to open up the eyelid region by removing excess skin and fat deposits. The procedure restores an invigorated appearance.

Dr. Stoker Explains Eyelid Surgery
When blepharoplasty is performed by a highly trained plastic surgeon, it brightens the eyes by removing loose skin and fat that creates droopiness and bags. Many of my male patients are concerned that these conditions make them look tired or even angry. This is one of my favorite operations because it has dramatic results, an easy recovery and lower costs than other facial procedures.
Educated at some of the most elite institutions in the country, Dr. David Stoker uses his highly advanced knowledge to ensure that each patient achieves beautiful, harmonious results — whether it's through a simple non-surgical procedure or a more advanced surgical transformation. Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both:
Upper eyelids: When performing surgery of the upper eyelids, I place the incisions within the natural creases of the eyelids to remove excess skin and fat. I take extreme care not to overdo fat removal because hollowing of the upper eyelids can make people look older, too.
Lower eyelids: For the lower eyelids, I usually make the incision behind the eyelid where it is not visible or just underneath the eyelashes. Through the incision, I can remove some of the excess fat that causes bags. To improve the appearance of tear troughs, I inject a safe gel called Restylane® to fill in the valley. This is an effective way to restore lost volume in the face.
Candidates
For men who are concerned that their once youthful eyes now appear slit-like or puffy, blepharoplasty in Los Angeles is an excellent option. It cannot remove every wrinkle from the eyelid area, though, so many patients choose to add non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures like BOTOX® Cosmetic, laser resurfacing or a chemical peels to tighten and smooth the skin.
Recovery
Eyelids heal quickly so recovery tends to be fast. There is virtually no pain, and bruising and swelling are minimal. Most of my patients return to work within a few days and resume their exercise routine within two weeks. Results are long lasting.
Risks
In my experience, complications from eyelid surgery are rare. Possible risks include bleeding, infection, scarring and impaired vision.
