Why Choose Dr. StokerTraditional liposuction, power-assisted liposuction (PAL) and SmartLipo™ are all effective techniques for the neck. The technique I choose depends on the patient’s skin tone, amount of fat and complementary procedures being performed at the same time. Generally, though, I prefer PAL because it allows me to achieve the best results and the quickest recovery for my patients.
Relative to other Los Angeles liposuction techniques, PAL is a gentler procedure that gives me greater control and precision so I can focus on sculpting the most desirable contour. Since there is less trauma to the neck, my patients also benefit from a shorter recovery time.
Neck liposuction is particularly useful in younger patients who have good skin tone and localized fat. It’s also effective for older patients when combined with a neck lift to tighten the skin. Patients should be in good overall health, with blood pressure under control. Candidates who smoke should stop before their procedure.
My patients recover quickly from liposuction of the neck. Typically, they return to work the next day and resume exercise in one week.
No procedure is without risks. However, the majority of complications associated with neck liposuction are minor if the procedure is performed by a skilled, board-certified plastic surgeon. Although uncommon, possible risks include infection, skin damage and muscle weakness. Each of these complications may be treated effectively with diligent postoperative care.
