The neck is one of the first areas of the body to show signs of aging. Gravity, sun damage and genetic inheritance are the main contributors to aging of the neck. Regardless of the cause, patients who refuse to surrender to the dreaded “turkey neck” are getting relief in the form of a neck lift. In Los Angeles, neck lift surgery is similar to a facelift, but it focuses on the jaw line, neck bands and skin laxity. It is an effective way to reclaim a taut, youthful neck.

Dr. Stoker Explains Neck Lift
I have to emphasize how important it is to make an informed decision when you are choosing a surgeon to perform your neck lift. You owe it to yourself to be sure your Los Angeles plastic surgeon is highly credentialed and has performed many successful neck lift procedures. Be sure to review your surgeon’s before-and-after photos to see the possible results.
Educated at some of the most elite institutions in the country, Dr. David Stoker uses his highly advanced knowledge to ensure that each patient achieves beautiful, harmonious results — whether it's through a simple non-surgical procedure or a more advanced surgical transformation. During our initial consultation, I will take the time to listen to your concerns and recommend a customized approach for your neck lift. If you need a “skin-only” neck lift, I place two incisions behind or under the ears, which allow me to tighten the skin along the throat and remove excess skin. I’ll create firmer and more defined features on your neck.
Depending on your needs, I may also suggest a procedure called platysmaplasty, which tightens the underlying muscles and treats fat on the neck. This procedure requires a small incision under the chin along with the ones behind or under the ears. It is particularly effective for patients with heavy neck bands and advanced skin laxity and can dramatically improve the appearance of the neck.
Neck Lift
Candidates
The ideal candidate for Los Angeles neck lift surgery is between the ages of 40 and 70 and has banding, wrinkling or loose skin on the neck. Patients should be in good overall health, with their blood pressure under control. Candidates who smoke should stop before the procedure.
Recovery
It’s important to give your body ample time to heal. You will have swelling and bruising that can last for several days, and you may feel tightness or areas of numbness on the skin. Rest assured that these are all common and should not be cause for concern.
Most people return to work within a week. You should wait two to three weeks before resuming vigorous exercise.
Risks
As with any surgery, there are risks such as infection or bleeding. In my experience, however, complications following neck lift surgery in Los Angeles are extremely rare.
Our expertise extends beyond plastic surgery. We offer an extensive range of non-surgical treatments administered by our talented, experienced team of aesthetic providers under the guidance of board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Stoker.
