If you’ve been researching breast augmentation, you’ve probably noticed that most women’s goals are to have breast implants that look natural. What looks natural to someone in Miami, Las Vegas, or New York, however, may be different from what a breast augmentation patient in Los Angeles considers natural.
At my Los Angeles plastic surgery practice, I’ve developed techniques that exemplify what I consider the “L.A. Natural” breast augmentation aesthetic. This look is defined by a fuller, perkier breast appearance that enhances the overall contours of the body.
Additionally, I use “rapid recovery” techniques that enable patients to return to work or their normal daily activities much sooner than with traditional breast augmentation surgery.
In this blog post, I’ll expand on what I mean by “L.A. Natural” breast augmentation and describe the techniques used for rapid recovery procedures.
The patient featured in this YouTube video is an excellent example of the results that are possible using these techniques.
Achieving Natural-Looking Breast Augmentation Results
Results that are in harmony with the rest of the body so that breasts don’t look obviously enhanced is the definition of natural-looking breast augmentation. The key factors in achieving these outcomes include:
- Improved fullness: This includes both the upper area of the breast and cleavage, along with fullness laterally (on the sides of the breasts). As you can see from the patient featured below, she increased her cup size with an equal amount of breast fullness above and below the nipple.
- Improved shape and symmetry: Virtually all women have some degree of breast asymmetry. Often, it’s barely noticeable. When it is apparent, with my meticulous approach and variety of resilient implants, I can tailor the treatment best fit for your body, improving both the shape and symmetry of the breasts while maintaining a natural appearance.
- Perky and curvaceous: Breast augmentation patients years ago wanted large implants that created a very round and obviously enhanced look. The current aesthetic for breast augmentation focuses on creating natural-looking curves and breasts that look perky, even when they’re fuller.
- Accentuates the overall contour: By emphasizing the breasts’ lateral fullness, the procedure enhances a woman’s natural hourglass shape.
These same principles guide the surgical plans I create for all patients, regardless of their height or the size of their breasts. The goal remains consistent, and you can see the outcomes by viewing our gallery of before-and-after photos featuring several of my actual patients.
What Is Rapid Recovery Breast Augmentation?
It’s important to me that my breast augmentation patients are able to resume their daily lives as soon as possible after their surgeries. The specific techniques I use during each procedure help limit downtime and significantly minimize the risk of complications.
These techniques include:
Minimizing trauma during the procedure: Using precision and a gentler approach limits trauma to tissue and muscle during breast augmentation surgery. This greatly reduces discomfort after the procedure.
Precise creation of implant pockets: By creating a detailed, customized surgical plan, I create pockets where I place the implants in a way that optimizes the relationship between the implant and soft tissue in the breasts.
Touch-free augmentation: One of the most innovative devices developed in the past several years is the Keller Funnel®, which gives surgeons the ability to insert implants without touching them. This method not only reduces trauma during the procedure, but also minimizes the risk of infection after the surgery.
Use of long-lasting local anesthetic: Injecting Exparel®, a long-acting non-opioid anesthetic, before closing the incisions can reduce or eliminate the need for prescription medication such as opioids to manage pain after surgery. Approved by the FDA in 2011, Exparel is now used by both cosmetic and general surgeons to improve recovery.
