What Is the Right Age for a Traceless Facelift?

What is the right age for a facelift

I’m frequently asked what the right age is for a facelift. Even though most of the Traceless Facelift patients we see are in their 50s or 60s, plenty of people in their 40s get facelifts, as do women and men in their 70s if they’re healthy.

Additionally, people younger than 40 who have lost significant weight may want a Traceless Facelift because their skin sags and makes them appear much older than they are.

Understanding How the Face Ages

The best time to consider getting a facelift is linked more to how you feel about your appearance than your age. Facial aging involves physical changes that occur at various ages for different people. As we age, collagen production slows and our skin loses elasticity, contributing to sagging and wrinkles. But those are not the only factors causing facial aging. Bones lose density, gravity pulls down on soft tissues, and fat pads get thinner and descend.

Our youthful round, firm look gives way to deep lines around the nose and mouth, jowls along the jawline, and fullness below the chin as the descending fat accumulates in the neck.

This transformation typically begins after age 30, and nonsurgical treatments, such as dermal fillers and BOTOX®, can minimize the appearance of early wrinkles and lines. But the underlying changes continue, and, ultimately, patients turn to facelift surgery and neck lifts to transform their appearance and restore their confidence. Typically, you can expect a facelift to last for 10 to 12 years, especially when you periodically schedule other cosmetic facial rejuvenation treatments to maintain the results.

Facial Rejuvenation at Different Ages

Let’s take a look at some patients of mine who decided to get a Traceless Facelift at different ages. These before and after photos provide good examples of why there isn’t a “best age” to get a facelift.

Age 43

I performed a lower face and neck lift on this patient using my signature Traceless Facelift technique to create results that look very natural. Despite having beautiful eyes, gorgeous skin, and magnificent facial bone structure, she felt that wrinkles and jowls created a stern, older appearance. The facelift and neck lift softened her nasolabial folds and added definition to her jawline and neck.

Early 50s

By combining a Traceless Facelift with eyelid surgery and CO2 laser skin resurfacing, I was able to restore this patient’s youthful appearance by improving the tone and texture of her skin. This comprehensive approach to facial rejuvenation produces results that look natural and last for years.

Late 60s

Using the Traceless Facelift, which camouflages incisions around the ear lobes, I tightened the neck and removed sagging skin to improve the contour of this patient’s jawline without creating the appearance of having had “work” done. Upper eyelid surgery and laser skin resurfacing produced beautiful results.

Age 71

Like many people in their 70s, this patient wanted his appearance to match his youthful energy. A neck lift, facelift, and chin augmentation created an energetic look without appearing unnatural.
